Yo-Yo Ma Live Concert Dates in 2024

After resounding live performances in Taiwan and Hong Kong, Yo-Yo Ma (馬友友) is back on the road again.

Set to play with his long time collaborator Kathryn Stott, his philosophy of expanding music via culture continues to impact leaders and music makers worldwide.

Yo-Yo recently released his third album, titled Six Evolutions. This recording of Bach’s cello suites also includes Songs of Comfort and Hope, created and recorded with pianist Kathryn Stott in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Yo-Yo Ma in Hong Kong and Taiwan tour 2023

In Oct 2023, the world-renowned cellist and Grammy winner performed at the National Kaosiung Center for the Arts with his long time collaborator, pianist Kathryn Stott. Just a month later, Ma’s performance with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra sold out in under an hour.

They performed several timeless classics, including the Cello Sonata in D minor, Op. 40 by Dmitri Shostakovich and the Cello Sonata in A major by César Franck.

Projects

Most recently, Yo-Yo began Our Common Nature, a cultural journey to celebrate the ways that nature can reunite us in pursuit of a shared future. This project follows the Bach Project, a 36-community, six-continent tour of J. S. Bach’s cello suites paired with local cultural programming.

Yo-Yo is an advocate for a future guided by humanity, trust, and understanding.

Among his many roles, Yo-Yo is a United Nations Messenger of Peace, the first artist ever appointed to the World Economic Forum’s board of trustees.

He is also a member of the board of Nia Tero, the US-based nonprofit working in solidarity with Indigenous peoples and movements worldwide, and the founder of the global music collective Silkroad.
